The super-group’s 1969 debut can be described as the end of one era and the beginning of another – which it often is by critics. But all hippie history and cultural baggage aside, Crosby, Stills and Nash nowadays sounds like just a great collection of California folk-rock, very much in the tradition of the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and the unheralded Fred Neil. In fact, one of the bonus tracks is a cover of Neil’s “Everybody’s Talkin’.” As with everything else on this record, it’s utterly sublime. – Justin Farrar
