"One night in Dallas, the Devils had a show and Modest Mouse had another show across town with Flake Music [The Shins] and Hovercraft. Eddie Vedder was married to Beth [Liebling] from Hovercraft at the time, and we all stayed at the same hotel and had a huge party. When security did eventually show up, Eddie rose to the occasion, saying that he used to be a hotel security guard and would handle it. He tried to reason with the guard, saying, 'Look, I know we've been loud, but we're all adults here, we'll quietly say our good-byes and call it an evening.' The guard didn't buy it, and wouldn't leave until the room was cleared out. It was a good try, though."
