Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
Max Hansen was a very popular entertainer during the Weimar Republic era, and shot to stardom via his performance as a waiter at the cafe Leopold in the musical comedy Im weissen Rossl. But his cabaret sketches and Jewish origins put a sudden brake on his career when Hitler rose to power. After a spell in Vienna, Hansen then began a new life in Scandinavia. He managed to invent new identities and an Aryan background for himself, but he was always too scared to return to Germany.
