Small village life in 1974 Turkey doesn't provide too many distractions. The biggest local entertainment comes from the nightly open-air cinema run by shady businessman Latif. Latif is on anything but good terms with the town's good-hearted mayor, Nazmi. So when Nazmi hears of a new invention, the 'vision-tele', that may make cinema obsolete, he shows a strong interest. Hoping to cut into Latif's business as a cinema-swindler, Nazmi buys one of these new contraptions. But the effort needed to catch a television signal will be more work than he bargained for.
