Vince Vaughn Locked and Loaded For ‘Gunslingers’

Vince Vaughn is taking aim at a different kind of genre.

The “Wedding Crashers” star looks to be taking a break from comedy as he signs on to headline “Gunslingers,” according to Deadline.

“Gunslingers” is an action-adventure in which several iconic characters from the past suddenly find themselves in modern-day Los Angeles and at odds with contemporary urban reality. The film will explore what heroism means in “fun and unexpected ways.”

The project, which is being set up at New Regency, comes from a pitch by Randall Wallace, who will write the screenplay and presumably direct. Wallace certainly knows a thing or two about the concept of heroism, having previously penned “Braveheart,” “We Were Soldiers,” “Pearl Harbor” and “The Man in the Iron Mask.”

Vince Vaughn is certainly keeping busy lately. He’s currently set to reunite with his frequent collaborator Owen Wilson on “The Internship” and recently wrapped the romantic comedy, “A Case of You.” He’ll next be seen in “The Watch,” opening July 27, and in “Lay the Favorite,” which was screened at this year’s Sundance Film Festival but has yet to lock down a U.S. release date.

No word on a start date for “Gunslingers,” though we expect it will be a while as the script is still being developed. It will be fun to see what other actors join Vaughn for this fish-out-of-water tale.
