Philippe, twenty-five, arrives in Arcachon to work as a waiter. Angered by his employer's bullying, he hits him then, fleeing from the law, he hijacks a postal van. Betty, twenty-one, is an unmarried mother who still lives at home even though she doesn't get on with her father. She gets a job in a factory and moves to a new apartment with her six-year-old son Damien. When Philippe and Betty meet, it's love at first sight. The young couple's future, however, is about to be spoiled. During his escape in the postal van, Philippe ran over a child in front of the local primary school and that child was Damien. Betty discovers the truth. What will happen to the child? And the young couple's new-found love?
