We've already discussed the juicy goodness that is the actual Twilight soundtrack. However, as that one is selling like crazy I think it's high time we use the power of our imaginations to crank out another version. Please enjoy the 14 songs that came to mind as I pondered the Twilight universe.

"The First Day of My Life" -- Bright Eyes

Why: From Bella to Edward. The imagery and lyrics are fantastic. In many ways both of them are born anew the instant they lay eyes on each other.
Applicable lyrics: This is the first day of my life / I'm glad I didn't die before I met you / but now I don't care / I could go anywhere with you / and I'd probably be happy.

"Electric Feel" -- MGMT

Why: This song would rule for the first time Edward sees Bella. Plus the movie 21 wasted MGMT.
Applicable lyrics: Ooh, girl / Shock me like an electric eel.

"Do The Panic" -- Phantom Planet

Why: I think this is an appropriate sentiment once you find out the guy you're all about is a vampire.
Applicable lyrics: Come on come on / It's time to lose control!

"Burning" -- Whitest Boy Alive

Why: The band is called "The Whitest Boy Alive"!! C'mon, that's Edward. This song would play perfectly with the Forks scenery.
Applicable lyrics: So many people telling me one way / So many people telling me to stay / Never had time to have my mind made up / Caught in a motion that I don't wanna stop.

"I'm Only Happy When it Rains" -- Garbage

Why: My song for Rosalie.
Applicable lyrics: You'll get the message by the time I'm through / When I complain about me and you.

"Common People" -- Pulp

Why: My song for the Cullens, the vampires who want to live among the people.
Applicable lyrics: You'll never live like common people / You'll never do whatever common people do / Never fail like common people / Never watch your lives slide out of view.

"Fake Empire" -- The National

Why: When I saw the beautiful Cullen house in the movie I couldn't help but think of this song. This brilliant and beautiful family has everything ... and yet, they all live a lie.
Applicable lyrics: Stay out super late tonight / Picking apples, making pies / Put a little something in our lemonade and take it with us / We’re half-awake in a fake empire.

"Drive" -- The Cars

Why: Edward saves Bella in his car, and he also drives around like a crazy person. So I figure we should have some sort of automotive song in here. Plus it has that nice obsessive quality that the Edward and Bella often emote.
Applicable lyrics: We can't go on / Thinking, nothing's wrong.

"Bizarre Love Triangle" -- Frente (cover)

Why: C'mon, doesn't "Bizarre Love Triangle" pretty much sum up the whole Bella / Edward / Jacob dynamic?
Applicable lyrics: I'm not sure what this could mean / I don't think you're what you seem / I do admit to myself that if I hurt someone else / They'll never see just what we're meant to be.

"Tranquilize" -- The Killers

Why: A band called "The Killers" definitely belongs in a movie about vampire love. I would dedicate this to Victoria and Laurent, the lethal baddies left for the sequel.
Applicable lyrics: I got this feeling that they're gonna break down the door / I got this feeling that they're gonna come back for more.

"Winter" -- Tori Amos

Why: This song captures the relationship between Edward and Bella perfectly. He's cold, like winter, but he also wants Bella to be completely safe and warm.
Applicable lyrics: When you gonna make up your mind? / When you gonna love you as much as I do?

"Seven Nation Army" -- White Stripes

Why: This is an absolute theme song for James.
Applicable lyrics: I'm gonna fight 'em off / A seven nation army couldn't hold me back ... the message coming from my eyes says "Leave it Alone."

"A Beautiful Mess" -- Jason Mraz

Why: My new prom theme for Bella and Edward.
Applicable lyrics: You are strong / But you're needy / Humble but you're greedy / Your style is quite selective / But your mind is rather reckless.

"Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" -- Smashing Pumpkins

Why: My new alternate version of Bella's lullaby.

So that's it. That's the deal. I've figured out a way to add two more songs in than the original soundtrack, though I'm upset I couldn't quite work the band Vampire Weekend in. Maybe next time.

Other songs considered:
"Angeles" -- Elliott Smith
"Blue Light" -- Bloc Party
"Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" -- Culture Club
"Don't Make me Prove It" -- Veruca Salt
"Haunted" -- Poe
"40'" --Franz Ferdinand
"Charlie Says" -- Jude
