Liz awakens in bed beside her lover, Geoff, and realizes she's late to an appointment to have an abortion. From there, the story follows her decision to become the mother of Neil's child--Geoff only having been involved in the relationship a short while. Liz is ultimately fired from her office job and then decides to go to her friend Prue's wedding on a Pacific island where Neil proposes. Liz prefers Geoff but he is now occupied by the return of his actual girlfriend Bryony from overseas.
