Hester is a repressed spinster who lives with her father in a listless, outback mansion. Free-spirited Katherine is her housekeeper and the only spark of life in Hester's heart. When Hester's father dies, she sells the house along with everything in it, buys a Toyota pickup truck and a cottage and settles in with Katherine. Just as they begin to fantasize about a trip to Europe together, Katherine runs over something with the truck. Once they find that it's a dead body under their wheels, the two begin a slow dissension into paranoia and madness as each of try to forget that they have killed a man and have thrown his body down their backyard well.
