Paramount Goes for a Fox-Free Transformers 3
Deadline Hollywood reported Wednesday that Michael Bay and Paramount have decided not to pick up Megan Fox‘s option for the next installment of the billion dollar toy ad that is Transformers. (In a statement to People, Fox’s manager claimed that she quit. Sure she did.)?
Verdict: Fox and her orange tan did help get slavering teenage boys in the seats, but looks like Bay finally realized what I’ve been saying all along: She kind of looked like Shia LaBeouf‘s stripper aunt. Now if we can just get rid of him, maybe we’ll have a movie.
MTV Really Does Love the ’80s
Are werewolves really going to be the next vampires? MTV is doubling down on yes with a new series based on the 1985 Michael J. Fox vehicle Teen Wolf, about … well …
Verdict: Why not just write a new series about a high-school werewolf? Is the Teen Wolf name really that big with the kids? I mean, I’m as big a fan as anyone else of Michael J. playing basketball in a hair suit, but still. And, lest we ever forget, here’s Mr. Jason Bateman in 1987′s Teen Wolf Too. Is anyone else thinking cameo?
“The Tigers, You Will Beat”
In honor of the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, Friday’s Dodger game against Detroit is going Star Wars, with Chewbacca throwing out the opening pitch, Darth Vader posters, Boba Fett shirts, and Boba Burgers and Darth Tater Chips (oof) on the snack stand menu.
Verdict: Finally, sports jumps onto the geek bandwagon. Up next: stamp collecting day at Lambeau field. (Bonus: You can get Darth Vader to give you directions to the stadium!)
What Would I Do With 100 Mill? Not This.
In the ’90s, Haim Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers pasted American actors onto Japanese fight scenes and, along with making a lot of money, rightfully earned the title of the cheesiest show on TV. After years under Disney control, the Power Rangers rights were just sold back to Saban for one. Hundred. Million. Dollars.
Verdict: That’s evil genius money. Fine, he’s got it to spare. But why? There must be some other Japanese show he can rip off. I give you: Gaki no Tsukai.
