Two bank robbers return to their town after five years in prison, determined to find their buried loot. Finding it missing, they accuse a neighbor of stealing it, and burn his house down. This behavior creates problems for a former friend of theirs, who has since become a sheriff, and is torn between loyalty to his former friends and his promise to uphold the law.
