-Logan looks like a 12-year-old beside Luke Evans. Omnomnom Luke Evans.
-It is actually uncomfortable to hear grown-up voice coming out of Logan Lerman’s mouth. Like physically uncomfortable.
-Luke mentions Avatar tech and how gratifying it was to see dailies in 3-D.
-Luke describes Aramis as a 16th Century James Bond. stealthy, broody, good with women,. Paul wanted to create a batman ninja terminator Aramis, and he wears a black cloak and jumps off bridges and he’s not even out of breath at the end of it. Was a priest, not anymore, but uses his charms and that’s the way Aramis rolls.
-Luke says fantastic fight choreographers, had the guy from the Bourne films. Says Logan had the hardest fight ever. Logan had a 150 point fight. Both recall sparks coming from the swords during fight scenes.
-Christoph brought his Oscar to set every day and we and to refer to him as Oscar. Logan points out that it’s like the plot of The Beaver.
-”Acting is like a tennis match, and if you have a great opponent, it ups your game.” Logan Lerman
-Summit then showed a behind the scenes featurette they prepped, which included four seconds of Orlando Bloom turning in a flourish to display a hidden wall of guns, hair in a pompadour, before cutting to him seated in the interview chair.
-Orlando: It’s going to be a real feast for the eyes (AS SHALL YOU BE, ORLANDO).
-Featurette also showed one clear clip of the flying sparks the actors kept talking about, in one shot of three swords sliding against each other in a parry.
-Luke says it’s good and respectful to know what your contemporaries have done with a role, but he used the book as his primary source. The role was a dream come true for him.
-Logan defines film as origin story.
-Logan’s advice for teens who want to act: pursue it and don’t stop. there’s a lot of criticism and it’s very tough, and emotionally draining to have to audition and always be in that arena. Persistence. Luke adds, “don’t fear rejection.”
Will the film continue as a franchise and if so are you signed on?
Luke: “If there is a sequel, no one’s taking my role.”
Accidents? Cutting?
Luke: No fatalities. You want us to say there was a fatality. The problem was the fight sequences were so complex, and we were doing them ourselves. But they were fast, and furious, there’s blades flying everywhere, so you account for a few mistakes. Stunt men are made of rubber, they bounce off floors, walls …
-Logan: we wanted to make sure we didn’t need to cut around the stunt guy, we wanted to show faces.
-Luke: If you can do the stunt yourself, do it yourself. That’s what I’m in this business to do.
In light of previous adaptations, any doubts in signing up?
-Logan: For D’Artagnan, I’m the actual age of the character in the novel, We believe that it’s the untold chapter of the story, the musketeers being weaponry experts, these james bonds or navy seals of their time, and we wanted to up the action and make them more badass than the previous films.
-Luke: It’s a fantastic legendary story, and each generation should have its own interpretation of that story. They’re good, they last forever, they deserve a place in every generation.
-Logan’s love for filmmakers, great films and movies motivated him to be an actor.
-Luke started as a singer, did theater for 8 years, only 2 1/2 yrs ago did first movie, but he couldn’t really do anything else, he was useless at everything else.
Five year plan?
-Luke sees self fulfilling his ambitions. You never stop, life never stops, and as long as you’re happy and healthy and your family is, then everything else is grand. I feel very honored to do what I do and i hope it keeps going and i get to fulfill my dreams.
-Logan says: I love movies and I’m just so happy and proud to be int his business. I ant to contribute to films i’d love to see in theaters. I want to work with people that inspire me.
On Percy Jackson versus Three Musketeers
-Logan: All very special memories, I had a fantastic time on both. They’re very different.
-Luke: You had a lot of hair in this one. Sexy hair.
-Logan: Thank you.
On Milla Jovovich
-Logann: She is an ass kicking m’lady
-Luke: She terrifies us in the film, we have no idea what she’s going to do next.
Though it seems the footage is entirely reflective of the mantra “A Three Musketeers for a new generation”, in that it appears to be comprised entirely of explosive spectacle, the energy of the crowd’s reaction is a clear indicator that this is not at all a negative.
