Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror." This 1922 classic of cinema based on Bram Stoker's "Dracula" (but with names changed) directed by F.W. Murnau and starring Max Schrek in one of films most famous and frightening make-up jobs.
Set in bombed-out, post-war Vienna, Holly Martins, a writer of pulp Westerns arrives as a penniless guest of his childhood chum Harry Lime, only to find him dead. Martins develops the ultimate conspiracy theory after learning of a "third man" present at the time of Harry's death, running into interference from investigating British officer Major Calloway and falling head-over-heels for Harry's grief-stricken lover, Anna.
There have been some big changes this month over at the home of The Criterion Collection, the prestige DVD company that's been every film buff's best friend since the days of Laserdiscs.
