Completed over the course of six years, this documentary grew out of Cross's fascination with the hobos who panhandled outside the Guy subway station in Montreal. An intimate portrait of three homeless men, their personalities become the focus of the documentary. Two of the main figures in the film are the Claven brothers, John and Danny. At the beginning of the film John Claven has been evicted from his apartment and has decided to live on the street until he pulls his life together. His brother Danny has lived on the street since age 11 and is addicted to booze and a selection of drugs. Frank O'Malley is known as the "King of the Hobos" and is considered to be a classy bum who'd rather spend time in a rooming house for some privacy if he could afford it.
