Set in the immediate future when right-wing and fundamentalist forces are bent on destroying people different from them, The Second Coming is, in the end, a story of love under fire. A sci-fi allegory, the film evocatively uses archival footage to illuminate a theory of history implicit in its title, that is, without our vigilance the future will become what we most fear from the past.
