The adultering wife of a British officer stationed in India serts her eyes on a distinguished Indian doctor and will stop at nothing to seduce him. When he rescinds her advances, she realizes she's falling in love for the first time and when they finally consummate their affair the region is hit by the annual torrential rainfall and an earthquake, which forces the doctor to choose his vocation over her.
