synopsis
A bored billionare philanthropist is given a birthday gift by his brother to make his life more interesting- a high-stakes game in which the rules remain a mystery. After receiving numerous clues and life-saving keys, he realizes that someone has made him the target of a detailed scam, completely draining his bank account in the process. When he begins to believe that "the game" ends when he is dead, he must do what he can to save his own life.

By any fair standard, this lushly produced film is a long, bumpy ride to a major letdown. It's the flashes of mind-twisting fun provided by Seven director David Fincher that make The Game worth playing.
