synopsis
A mix of fact and fiction which tells the story of Dostoyevsky's struggles as an impoverished, gambling-addicted writer and his relationship with the stenographer hired to take dictation of his novel "The Gambler." The story-within-a-story parallels the romance between Dostoyevsky and Anna with that of the main characters of "The Gambler."
