synopsis
A decrepid 19th century middle-aged general waits for his aging wealthy aunt to die so he can inherit her fortune. In the meantime, he literally sells of his daughter to a French adventurer in exchange for living expenses while waitin for the older woman to die. Instead, his supposed benefactor decides to gamble her money and loses it all.
