synopsis
Set during the volatile labor clashes of depression-era New York, Ray and Chez Tempio literally seethe with grief as they lust for revenge over the murder of their younger brother, Johnny. As the story progresses, Ferrara and longtime screenwriting collaborator Nicholas St. John take us back in time through the brothers' memories of family, business and bloodshed. We learn of their complicated relationship with Spoglia, a stylish, menacing mobster who may, or may not, be behind the savage killing. Trapped in the violent spiral of Tempio tradition, their loyal wives struggle to keep the family together and pray for it all to stop. But until the gun that ends it all finally fires, no one could have guessed the bizarre conclusion--and who pulls the trigger.
