A 10 year old girl is found strangled in a small town in Brittany. When newly promoted detective Lesage begins to investigate, she interviews the last person to see the girl alive: art teacher Rene. But in this remote community, Rene and his wife have always been outsiders, not natives although they have lived there for years. Suspicion and rumor grow, and soon more violence shakes the town.
