Private Kang Han-Cheol serves with a platoon of the coast guard, keeping ceaseless watch for North Korean spies. One night he senselessly shoots a young civilian who has stepped into the restricted border area to make love with his girlfriend. While the female witness to this slaughter loses her mind, Kang is rewarded for exemplary performance of duty. However, after more violent incidents, he is discharged. Refusing to respect this decision, he wanders the barracks and attacks his former colleagues.
