Jane Callahan travels to Russia in the late 19th Century to help a man who may be her father with his new invention. He has made a logging machine, which he hopes will transform the forests of Siberia, and needs support from the Grand Duke. Jane meets and falls in love with a young army cadet, Andrei, but his superior decides that he'd like to marry Jane, and forces the hapless Andrei to be his interpreter.
