Mockingbird

That’s A Wrap

Well another season of Big Brother has come to an end with Evel Dick winning the top
prize of $500,000 and his daughter Daniele (otherwise known as his evel spawn)
consequently winning the $50,000 second prize. Yes it was a sweep for the Donatos,
and as Daniele said, it mattered little who came in first or second, they won. And
they did it together.

The show started off with a short re-cap, then it was down to business. As America’s
Player, Eric was given his final task: to vote for Dick to win and to convince the
jury to do the same. In the process the jury had some nasty things to say about the
Donatos, rightfully so, as Dick pretty much spewed every offensive remark known to
mankind at them while in the house. Jameka compared them to a pimp and a ho with
Daniele being the pimp and Dick the ho. Amber said that Daniele was pathetic and
called Dick an ***hole, but an awesome ***hole (in reference to Dick playing this
game for two people, which he did). Jen, no surprise, campaigned for Daniele to win,
but to no avail. Did anyone really think she would give her vote to Dick? Eric, for
the most part, controlled the voting process, and in the end came through once more
for America earning a green checkmark in the task-completed column as Dick did win.
After watching the tapes, the least Dick could do is send the lad a hallmark card!

Then came the jury questions which were a mix based on game play and one personal
one that had no business being asked, this question was asked by Amber. She asked
Daniele why she deserved her vote considering her relationship with Nick in the
house and how that affected Daniele’s personal life with her boyfriend. Daniele’s
response was warranted, telling Amber that if she was basing her decision on her
personal life, that she didn’t want her vote, Amber complied and gave her vote to
Dick. Turns out that Dick didn’t need it though, as he won by a vote of 5-2 with Jen
and Jameka being the only jury members to give their votes to Daniele. I thought Jen
asked the best question of the night, asking Dick if being in the house helped his
relationship with Daniele. Dick responded that having this as a beginning to
building some type of normalcy in their relationship meant more than being in the
final two, and that he felt this way throughout the entire show. Then in true Dick
form he called Jen an idiot if she didn’t believe him. Yep, Dick was all Dick to the
bitter end!

Once the votes were cast, the America’s Player twist was finally revealed to the
houseguests, they took the news pretty well and laughed as they were shown a clip of
the shenanigans Eric was up to. Hmmm, I wonder if they would have reacted the same
way if they were told about the $40,000 that he earned in the process? Wouldn’t you
just have loved to be a fly on the wall at the wrap party! All in all Eric did a
good job in playing the game for us, and deserves credit for doing so, good job
Eric.

And so we have our winners for Big Brother 8, Dick and Daniele Donato, they entered
the house an estranged father and daughter with a strained relationship, yet they
stuck together when the chips were down, making it to the end against many odds.
They had help along the way from America and her player yes, but won pivotal battles
when it was crucial to do so and formed alliances to further themselves, ultimately
winning the game. And maybe, just maybe, they won something far greater than a game,
something far more valuable than all that money. I like to think that they did.
