"We're Americans...d'you know what that means?" yells new recruit John Winger (Bill Murray, perfecting his mush-mouthed muddler persona). "Our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world!" Beyond the sham recruiting and sadistic push-ups, the 1981 comedy doesn't drill very deep. With deleted-for-a-reason scenes restored, Stripes amounts to Murray and Harold Ramis in training for the heroic ham-jinks of Ghostbusters.
