Stars without Stars - A National Epidemic

Those of us inside the business know that the Hollywood Walk of Fame truly isn't about fame. Oh, famous people get their name on there to be sure. But the Hollywood Walk of Fame is, first and foremost, a marketing tool. Take Jamie Foxx for instance. He's an actor I love, but does anyone really think it's coincidental that the ceremony he received his star in took place two weeks before The Kingdom opened nationally?

The fact is these "stars" retail for $25,000. They award 20 of them per year. You have to be nominated, approved, and want to attend the ceremony. So many stars don't bother. They don't need a place on Hollywood Blvd. that requires $25k and their time. And so many mega-wattage stars haven't made it to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, here are but a few of the luminaries who aren't represented. When the Walk O' Fame adds these people, no questions asked, they'll gain my respect. Until then we're all pondering some sort of hunger strike.
