Big Brother 8: It All Comes Down to TonightThe last week of Big Brother has been a whirlwind... how did we get here?

Bring on the finals! This past week has been Big Brother fast forward. It all began last Thursday when Julie announced that it was double eviction night to the houseguests, you could almost see little beads of sweat appear as their pulses quickened and the adrenaline began pumping. The first eviction came early in the show, and first to leave on the double was cheerleader Jess, boo-yahing her way out the door to join Julie. Eric proclaimed his love to her in his good-bye message, swearing he would defend her honor. Jess tilted her head and said awww, kinda like he was a puppy. Then came the next HOH comp, a "before and after" question round that had the houseguests tied at 5 with Dick breaking the tie and winning. Dick nominated Jameka and Eric, a no-brainer. Then once again they were off to fight for POV, which had balls raining down on them. The houseguests had to scramble to find only the green ones and put them in their tube, the first to fill their tube won the POV. The comp didn’t last long, as Zach was simply too fast (and too tall) and caught the green balls heads above the others to fill his tube and win. At this point in the game Zach, who had been saying for weeks that the Donato’s needed to be broken up, had the opportunity to do so, but didn’t. The nominations stayed the same and Eric was evicted. He left, but not before threatening the remaining houseguests with his "Philadelphia lawyer" remark on his way out, I guess he was a bit peeved. And so they headed into yet another HOH competition, this time based on photos they studied from previous competitions. Zach won in a tiebreaker with Daniele, once again giving him the power. He decided this was his time to "muscle" one of the Donato’s out of the house, as he said in his nomination speech, um…okay. Perhaps Zach jumped the gun a little, there was after all another competition to come, and come it did, the final POV. This competition consisted of placing pictures of evicted houseguests between two facts relating to that houseguest, then placing corresponding numbers under the pictures, which equaled the number of seconds they were in the house to date. Daniele won once again, tying Janelle as the all time POV winner in one season with 5, congrats Dani! Unfortunately this meant that Jameka was off to sequester. Then there were three, which would now compete in the three-part HOH competition. The first part had the players stand on a "carrot" pedestal in a makeshift garden holding onto a key that was suspended above them, while hopping over a bar with a bunny attached that circled around the playing field. Then came the rain courtesy of Big Brother; Dani was cold instantly, as she has NO body fat to speak of. She was the first to be knocked out of the comp, tripping on the bar, which had stopped working, and was delegated to the sidelines to cheer on dear old Dad. Since the circling bar was now inoperable, Zach and Dick simply stood on their pedestals hanging onto their keys, in the rain. They lasted an amazing seven and a half hours total! I think that at some point Big Brother could have stopped the rain for a wee bit, these two looked hypothermic and it reached a point where this competition just seemed cruel. Ultimately Dick could go no further and let go of his key. Zach won, advancing to the final comp and acknowledged in a show of good sportsmanship that Dick did an awesome job, good on Zach. I don’t know if Dick reciprocated, it is my hope that he did. Daniele at least made Zach hot tea and a sandwich, which was a kind thing to do. The second round (not on the feeds) had Dick competing against Daniele, with Dick winning. In doing so, he moves on to compete against Zach for the final HOH, the winner of which will ultimately decide the makeup of the final two vying for the $500.000 prize. And finally, we were treated to a peek of sequester house. We saw the parade of losers (of the game, not of life) entering the house smiling and putting on brave faces. Hmmm wonder who will join them next? Turns out we won’t have to wait long, after tonight we’ll know exactly who that will be. Comments
