Big Batch O' Super Hot Links: April 23rd

Welcome to the links column where our song for the day is "If You Fall" by Azure Ray. With that housekeeping out of the way, our first link is my own personal Charlie Wilson interview. And then an even better one by Jeff Awtrey in Lufkin, Texas. Next up, Lebowski Fest has been announced! A celebration of all things Lebowski has got to be a good thing. We'll be raffling off a chance to purchase me airfare and accommodations for the festival. Sorry Smokey, it's a league game. On that note, how about a nice 450 second smashup of the Coen Brothers' films? The bear Will Ferrell wrassled with in Semi-Pro has killed his trainer. Here's an early positive review from CinemaBlend of a film I recently screened called Deception. (I disagree with the review for the record.) Here's a dissenting voice from Christy Lemire ... and if you can figure out why I'm not allowed to run my review until Friday you win a prize. Some sad news: Ebert won't make his film festival this year. Get well soon Roger! Dr. Pepper is all over this summer's surefire blockbuster Indiana Jones. Iron Man will screen a bit earlier in selected markets. Early tracking numbers have it dominating ... and Speed Racer dying. Bill Cosby signs on to another documentary -- he was actually featured in Seinfeld's underrated documentary Comedian back in the day. David Blaine is set to hold his breath for sixteen minutes on Oprah. Words fail me. This is how you cover a movie junket without ever mentioning how bad the movie probably is. Well played, Empire! Here's a poll that further illustrates my point. Brendan Fraser on Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D ... and a G.I. Joe tidbit near the three minute mark. Hamlet 2, the red-band trailer! (Warning: Not suitable for work ... or kids ... or the easily offended.) Jezebel rightly skewers Esquire over Jessica Simpson. Guys, the celeb puff pieces are getting out of hand, eh? Good news! Ticketmaster has finally decided to just scalp tickets too (in addition to charging random extra fees). No wonder Pearl Jam tried to kill them back in the day. This week's headline that could have been satire: Miley Cyrus to pen memoir. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler video interview ... we gave Fey some love earlier this week. Netflix will charge more for Blu-ray subscriptions? Now that I own a PS3 this concerns me. Connor Cruise gets a part in a Will Smith movie. There's a weird blurb near the end of this article (second-to-last paragraph) where a producer mentions that the next Superman will invoke more of an "angry God" image. How about just making a good film? Superman IV skewering anyone? A genius breakdown of Judd Apatow's films, even though I do like them overall. That's all for now. May this links column find you, and find you well.
