A swashbuckling adventure set during the Napoleonic War. It centers on the capture of a soldier, St. Ives, who is taken to prison in Scotland, where he falls in love with Flora, a young woman who along with her aunt regularly visit the prison warden. With her help he unravels his family past and after escaping from prison seeks revenge upon his brother, for having betrayed him.
