Tokyo. 1910. Dr. Yukio runs a popular medical practice and treats plague victims. When he is offered a job working for the mayor, he must decide between helping people and making good money for himself. He chooses the latter and soon after he is attacked by a man that looks just like him. He finds out that it is his evil twin, Sutekichi, who throws him down a well and takes over his life.
