Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
Former policeman Emerson investigates the murder of a girl killed in a seedy hotel. He knows her only by her nickname, Golondrina. As he reconstructs her life, he discovers her involvement with several men: an immoral political candidate, who is linked to paramilitary groups; a decrepit former boxer; a blind lottery salesman; and an unsuccessful bullfighter. Like a puzzle, each character defines a segment of the girl's life. As the detective puts the pieces together one by one, he finds that he cannot finish without discovering he himself is one of the pieces.
