Hiro, an aspiring singer, leaves Japan for New York to pursue his dream and free himself of what he sees as Japan's repressed, class-conscious society. When he discovers a dead body at the SRO hotel where he's staying, his world is turned upside down turning the film into a madcap romp through downtown Manhattan.
