Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
Muriel meets Samuel on a train, but doesn't like his arrogance and pushiness. He comes around to her apartment and continues pestering her, and soon they are having sex on her floor. The relationship continues to be stormy, and soon also becomes emotionally and physically abusive. Subtle in its characterisation, the film is also controversial in its representation of a woman as a willing participant in an abusive relationship.
