Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
On a school field trip to the historic resort town of Gyeongju, an epic fight erupts between two separate schools. The winning gang is led by bully Choi Gi-Dong and the one kid who chickens out is the cowardly Park Young-Joon. 10 years later, Choi and Park cross paths back in Gyeongju. Choi is now the high-minded sports teacher in the local high school; Park is a smooth Seoul gangster who is in town (with plenty of "assistants") to take over operations from thuggish local crimelord Ma. The reunion is edgy from the start. It deteriorates when Choi's pupils start idolizing Park and asking him to let them join his gang. And it hits rock bottom when Choi and Park find themselves rivals for the affections of feisty noodle-restaurant owner Ju-Ran, whose younger brother is a schoolkid on the verge of delinquency.
