synopsis
Based on a true story, film opens with the death of Sardari Begum, a thumari singer, when she is killed by a stone during a riot outside her Delhi home. A reporter at the funeral, covering the Hindu-Muslim unrest that caused the riot, decides to reconstruct her life through interviews.
