synopsis
Bachata is blues, Dominican-style--a mix of wicked Afro-Caribbean rhythms, blazing guitar leads, heart-breaking laments and bawdy sexual double entendres. Luis Vargas, called the Supreme King of Bitterness, hits New York for a series of shows, takes us back to his village in the D.R., and opens the doors to the underworld of Bachata, the music nobody wanted to get caught listening to.
