It’s official, Rooney Mara
will play Lisbeth Salander in the English language adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. You may have seen Rooney in Youth in Revolt (briefly, as Taggerty) or in A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Mara joins director David Fincher (Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and will play alongside Daniel Craig, who was cast as the iconic Mikael Blomkvist. The original film, based on the hugely popular series from author Stieg Larsson, made over $90 million internationally. The highly anticipated Fincher version is scheduled for release on December 21, 2011.
