Whether or not paranormal phenomena exist has long been the subject of debate, pitting stern skeptics against fervent believers. Whatever side of the debate you’re on, there’s plenty to contend with in “Red Lights,” the latest psychological thriller from director Rodrigo Cortés (“Buried”).
The film stars Sigourney Weaver as Margaret Matheson, a psychologist who explores and debunks paranormal occurrences with Tom Buckley (Cillian Murphy), her trusted partner and assistant. When their old rival, Simon Silver (Robert De Niro), resurfaces claiming psychic abilities, he calls into question everything Margaret and Tom have accomplished. Is Silver truly a psychic? Have the pair met their paranormal match? The truth will be uncovered, but at what price?
In this exclusive clip from the film, Murphy and Elizabeth Olsen bond over dinner as he explains basic principles of magic and trickery to the bright young student.
“Red Lights” will begin a limited release in theaters starting July 13.
