Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
On February 26 1999, fraternity brothers at the University of Florida hired exotic dancer Lisa Gier King to dance at their party. The following morning, a half-naked and distraught King ran from the house, claiming she had been raped, and that frat brother Tony Marzullo had videotaped the crime. Two days later, King herself was arrested for filing a false report, and the authorities claimed the tape showed consensual sex - despite the fact that the film showed Marzullo addressing the camera to describe what he was witnessing as a rape. State Attorney Rod Smith refused to arrest the frat boys, and made the tapes available to the public. Shown alongside interviews and analysis, the original tape forms part of an investigation that the police never made.
