In the East-End of London, ten year old Paul becomes the caretaker of his family--mother Mel and youngest brother Lee--following the death of his father. He desperately attempts to protect the loving bond of mother and son and save Mel from her drug addiction. Ultimately, it is only when she hits rock bottom and is brought face to face with the damage she has wrought, that Mel finds the power to save herself and her family.
