The bittersweet tale of a longstanding friendship between two women: Patsy, a beautiful housewife who chose to stay in her rural Ontario hometown, and Francesca, an ugly-duckling who left the small town and successfully sought her aspirations to become a famous opera singer. Patsy has asked Francesca, whom she has not seen in over thirty years, to return home to perform at a concert conducted by Francesca's high school sweetheart, Don.
