In the early 80s, Jesse Diaz was a rising star in the hip-hop world, but things did not work out for the long term. Now, he is a broke single father living in Harlem with two children to support. But Jesse finds a shot at redemption in his nine-year-old daughter Priscilla, an immensely talented rapper. With older daughter Solsky the family's quiet cheerleader, Jesse and Priscilla look to parlay "P-Star's" talent into success and income for the whole family. This translates into long rehearsals, late nights, and home schooling. As Priscilla's star begins to rise, it taxes all the relationships in her life and tests her father in ways he never anticipated.
