synopsis
"Not Your Typical Bigfoot Movie" is the true story of Dallas Gilbert and Wayne Burton, two best friends from a dying steel town in Ohio, who are out to convince the world that Bigfoot exists. They have amassed a vast library of video footage and still photographs of proof (their website is highly trafficked) after years of venturing into the Ohio woods, day and night, to the capture shots of the legendary creature in its native habitat. Dallas is the gregarious one, a Reiki master who has perfected his Sasquatch call and claims to have a sheep's bone in his skull. Wayne is the repressed member of the duo, a former high-school bully who currently works at a car wash and is living paycheck to paycheck. Seeking fame, fortune, and notoriety, Wayne and Dallas's friendship is tested when a high-profile California Bigfoot researcher makes a stop in their town to look into the authenticity of their claims. A cult film in the making, this is more than just a documentary about an oddball corner of American culture--it's a mediation on class, culture, and the state of the American Dream.
