To stop the highway-building project of a cynical mayor, Maxence Lafourcade, a stubborn farmer in the Pyrenees, teams up with Konchelsky, a rich American lawyer with a vacation home in the region. Problems start when Maxence falls in love with the lawyer's artsy daughter Scarlett, and when the mayor's nephew, Fabrice, decides to join them.
