Director Kathryn Bigelow's gorgeous and gory 1987 film about a family of vampires who roam the modern West in a van never achieved more than cult status. Adrian Pasdar plays the stranger who gets bitten, and we view the horror through his eyes (check the killer scene in a bar).
Now, in this two-disc set with deleted material and a documentary,
Living in Darkness, Bigelow's artful handling of the magic and menace of the night is hauntingly apparent. And, oh, that score by Tangerine Dream.
