Paris psychiatrist Michel Durand finds his personal problems overshadowed when one of his patients, wealthy kleptomaniac Olga Kubler, dies in his office. Confused and upset, Durand tries to call the police but is put on hold. Eventually, he decides not to report Olga's death and attempts to dispose of her body. But Durand's troubles mount as Olga's tough-guy husband begins looking for her and demanding Durand replace some money she stole from him.
