Former bourgeois Michel has been homeless for some time and lost his purpose in life, until he meets an abused dog. With newfound energy, Michel takes care of the dog and the two become good friends until the police threaten to send the dog to the pound. He is forced to give them the address of his former wife. This encounter ultimately offers him the chance to meet his now grown-up daughter who takes her father to her house in the country. She is determined to look after him, unaware that her father's human dignity has been hurt.
