Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
Three shorts films made by three different European filmmakers. The first, "Respite", is composed of silent archival footage from Westerbork (Holland), a transit camp from which Jews were deported to Bergen-Belsen and Auschwitz. Desiring to make a documentary about this place in 1941, SS officer Gemmeker had a German Jewish prisoner film his fellows inmates. The images reveal that they can have many interpretations. "The Rabbit Hunters" describes daily life in Fonthainas, a crumbling district in the suburbs of Lisbon. It follows the life of the inhabitants, immigrants from Cape Verde who hope for a better quality of life. Finally, in "Correspondences," Virgile and Blanche, both seventeen, send e-mails to one another from their respective bedrooms. The young man has only seen the young woman once, but has fallen madly in love with her. He uses email to relay his feelings to her.
