Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
The high school dropout Autumn Moon lives in the Hong Kong housing projects with his mother, whose husband ran off with a mistress from the mainland. Running loan-sharking collections for his big brother, Moon falls for a girl named Ping, also from a broken family, who suffers from a fatal kidney disease. At night, Moon is tormented by nightmares and visions of another high school girl who leaped to her death from a school building. In the end, Ping dies from her disease and Moon shoots himself in despair at her grave.
