Lola is a cabaret singer, whose lover Michel has gone away to America, promising to come back when he has made a lot of money for her and their child. He has been gone for seven years, though, and Lola decides to have affairs in his absence. She is courted by two men: childhood friend Roland and Frankie, and American sailor. However, despite the charms of these men, Michel remains her true love.
